Overview

The customer has been a leader in the automotive parts industry for over 30 years. The customer was initially founded in 1993 and since then has grown to become one of the industry’s largest sources of reliable truck parts and accessories. Today they provide truck parts for Dodge trucks and SUVs, Ford trucks and SUVs, Chevrolet trucks and SUVs, and GMC trucks and SUVs.

The Challenge

The customer needed an experienced and reliable Magic programmer to maintain their homegrown system which had been relying on Magic for nearly 20 years. the entire system is written in Magic, so it was extremely important for their new developer to have the Magic software expertise. Through word of mouth, Patti Chen’s stellar reputation reached the decision makers, who initially reached out for Patti’s assistance in 2013.

The Strategy

As the customer did have Magic developers currently on their staff, Patti helped create a comprehensive strategy which allowed her to integrate with the team seamlessly. After a thorough analysis of the system, Patti determined the best course of action to maintain, improve, and update their Magic software.

The Success

By working in tandem with the customers inhouse Magic developers, Patti helped to maintain the system with a focus on their web project. The entire integration to the database was written with JSON using .Net serializer and Magic, and a majority of it has been written by XiriuS.

Paint Manufacturing

Overview

With a reputation built on premium paints and coatings, this customer manufacturers and distributes a wide variety of paint products using quality pigments, resins, and raw materials. A family owned business with a distribution chain consisting of some of the finest independent paint stores in the country, the business has grown to include a 100,000 square foot facility with offices, laboratories, shipping stations, manufacturing areas and warehouses. Well established in the Southeastern U.S., it now works with over 400 distributors all over the world.

The Challenge

In early 2014, the customer was in need of an experienced Magic Software Developer after the departure of their previous developer. The company contacted XiriuS upon reviewing our website, and explained that they were in need of a developer who could perform maintenance, add additional features, fix issues, and upgrade their system to the latest version of Magic.

The Strategy

After a thorough analysis of the the customer’s software system, we recommended that they upgrade from the current version in use, uniPaaS, to the latest version, Magic XPA. In order to achieve a seamless integration, we developed a plan to migrate the customer in the most efficient and risk-free way possible.

The Success

Our Magic Software expert, Patti Chen, determined the smoothest path for migrating the customer from uniPaaS to Magic XPA and successfully completed that portion of the project. Xirius also moved the client’s data from Pervasive over to SQL and continues to provide the customer with ongoing Magic support. Patti is now the number one support specialist for the customer, as the company currently considers pursuing a mobile solution in the near future.

Health Insurance

Overview

Originally founded in 1847, the Customer is the largest association of physicians and medical students in the United States. The mission of the customer is to promote the art and science of medicine for the betterment of public health, to advance the interests of physicians and their patients, to promote public health, to lobby for legislation favorable to physicians and patients, and to raise money for medical education. The customer also publishes the largest circulation of any medical journal in the world, the Journal of the American Medical Association.

The Challenge

Beginning 20 years ago in 1996, the customer needed a reliable Magic Software expert to develop a fully custom solution to meet the needs of the organization. They also required a dependable developer who could provide any updates needed, including fixes and the addition of new features. The customer turned the professional services provided by XiriuS to meet the company’s unique needs.

The Strategy

After completing a thorough investigation to determine all the customer’s Magic Software needs, Motty Chen determined that he would need to completely re-write the entire magic software system in order to accomplish the goals of the organization. Motty developed a comprehensive plan of action and created a strategy to transition the customer to the custom solution efficiently and cost effectively.

The Success

After the complete re-write performed by Motty 20 years ago, XiriuS continues to be the customers’s sole provider of dependable Magic Software support services. The customer continuously relies on XiriuS for necessary updates including requests like benefits, fixes, and additional features and XiriuS is currently in the process of upgrading the customer from Magic 8 to the latest Magic Software version, Magic XPA.
